Tamang Heritage Trek is an interesting trek into the Himalayas that offers travelers a peek into the every-day lives of the Tamang people who are Nepalese mountain dwellers of the Langtang region. This is newly open trekking trail which offers beautiful Mountain View, Natural hot spring and Tamang culture and heritage. Less trekkers and less commercial place is attraction of this trek.

The Langtang region is as wild as any Tibetan highlands with heavenly delightful countryside landscape and the rich in cultural heritage of ethnic Tamang people. Despite being just a few hours drive from Kathmandu, the trek along off the beaten track of the remote and rugged mountains and the high passes dotted with some of the oldest religious monuments such as Buddhist stupas, chortens, prayers wall and ancient Tamang monasteries and prayer flags flapping in the wind make every trekker marvel why the country is called a "trekker's paradise" a land of magic, meditation, and shamanism.

The Tamang people are a hardy race, originally horse traders who came from Tibet several hundred years ago. They settled in the hilly parts of Nepal within proximity of the Kathmandu Valley which acted as a good market for them at the time. They have retained their own distinct identity with strong Tibetan roots as well as their language.

Itinerary Details:

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu

Arrive at Kathmandu International airport. Meet, welcome, and assist by our office representative & transfer to hotel. Welcome drink, followed by tour briefing. Get refreshed, free time for your own & Overnight at Hotel.

Day 2: Trek Preparation day in Bhaktapur

A half-day sightseeing tour of UNESCO heritage site Bhaktapur includes different temples and shrines reflecting ancient local traditions. There is time to explore the city’s many places of interest on your own or take a rest while trekking permits are finalized. We will escort you with our trekking guide for program briefing of the trek.

Day 3 : Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi by bus via Trisuli Bazar and Dhunche(popular town). You will witness nice scenery of White Mountains of Mt. Annapurna II, Manasalu, Ganesh Himal and other minor peaks are visible from Kakani (along the route) and as well as green scenery of hillock, rivers, village, while driving to Syaprubesi. Syabrubesi is an attractive village with large stone houses.

Day 4:Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang.

From Syabrubesi we climb up to a view point with views of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley. Then a one hour descent to the Goljang valley. Another 3 hours walk from Goljang brings us to Gatlang, a charming Tamang village. Overnight at the community lodge.

Day 5:Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani.

This is one of the longest days of the trek, beginning with a descent to Thangbuchet (near Chilime village) by the Bhotekoshi River. After lunch the trail we’ll ascend up and cross a suspension bridge. The ascent continues until you get to Tatopani which means ‘hot water’, You can enjoy the natural hot springs in the lap of the mountains. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality. Dinner and overnight stay at local Tea Lodge.

Day 6:Trek from Tatopani to Thuman

We climb up to Brimdang village where we stop for lunch. After lunch the trek continues ascending to Nagthali Danda at 3300m. The trek continues down to Thuman, a Tibetan influenced Tamang village with friendly people who love to sing and dance. Overnight at local teahouse.

Day 7:Trek from Thuman to Briddim

The morning hike is along a flat section then descends to Timure along the old trade route to Tibet, just a 3 hour walk away here. The trail continues to Briddim which is another Tibetan influenced Tamang village. We will have a traditional homestay at Briddim visitors enjoy the local cultural practices with the host family and go on village walks to see the traditions and customs of the people.

Day 8: Trek from Briddim to Syabrubesi:

After a leisurely breakfast, we trek down to Syabrubesi which is just 3 hourrs walk from Briddim. After lunch rest of the day is free. Dinner and overnight at Syabrubesi.

Day 9: Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu:

It’s an easy hike along well-constructed trailsand through primitive yet quite neat little villages toward the larger villages of Chule and Nile, which face weach other on opposite sides of the Syar river at the base of the comma-shaped, steep valley leading up to Mu Gompa. This will be a relatively easy day with lots of time in the afternoon for relaxation and exploration.

Day 10:Kathmandu
